St. Bernard's enjoys a unique generational school community.  Our loyal parents, many of whom were students themselves, have chosen to return to St. Bernard's to entrust us with the responsibility for educating their own children. Our grandparents were once parents and our parents were once the students, which creates an intimate and trusting relationship. Our parents are active, generous and enthusiastic, many choosing to be involved in our Fundraising Steering Committe or by joining a parent sub group to organise a specific fundraising event during the year.

The role of the Fundraising Steering Committe - an extension of our School Advisory Council - is to gather ideas from the parent community for fundraising events, and then enlist the support of sub groups to organise these events.

Being part of the St. Bernard's sub groups is about meeting new people, catching up with friends and raising funds for equipment and resources for our students. Throughout the year, we have social / fundraising events for families and some specifically for parents.

Information on ways that parents and friends can be involved in life in our school community is provided in our school newsletter, website or via our school app.  This includes sporting activities, liturgies, picnics on the oval and our Christmas Concert.

In Term Two, the annual Art and Photography Show is held with members of the public invited to display their paintings or photographs for sale. Members of our school community are invited to join the Art Show Sub Group to organise this event. Everyone from the Wangaratta community and beyond is welcome to attend the opening night, where the winners of various categories are announced, and mingle with the crowd, whilst being served canapes and beverages. The Art and Photography Show is open all weekend, for the public to enjoy!

There are a number of other activities that we enjoy running to assist with fund raising at our school -

* The Annual Fun Run

* Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser

* Bunnings BBQ

* Movie Nights on the school oval.

*Silent Auction and Raffles.

* Hot Dog and special food days
